Bees
Honey
bees are recognized by an orange-brown color, are about
a half-inch in size. Honey bees are not very aggressive
by nature unless provoked or disturbed. When
they do sting, they send off pheromones calling attention
to other bees in the vicinty. |
Berry's
Pest Control is Africanized Honey Bee Certified. The AHB
is a very aggressive bee compared to the regular honey bees
that we are so familiar with. In any case, caution should
be taken with bees at all times.
Wasps
Paper wasps (umbrella wasps)
as they are usually known, are those species with stingers
and they are capable of stinging repeatedly and surviving
the attack to sting another time, the reason being is because
their stingers are smooth, unlike the honeybee, which is
barbed. The most common of these wasps are usually located
around structures. They can build a nest of huge proportions
if left undisturbed. They usually prefer fences, eaves,
ridges on structures.
Yellow
Jackets
Many experts in the field
consider Yellow Jackets to be one of the most dangerous
of the Hymenoptera in the United States, because of the
insect's nesting and foraging behavior and the potential
for it's venom to induce severe, life threatening allergic
reactions in certain sting victims. They have a tendency
to swarm and invade barbecues and picnics seeking the food
and drinks that are present. They usually build their nests
in the ground, trees, shrubs, attics, walls and common areas.
